Hailing from Stockwell, South London, Sophie Leseberg Smith has the gift of the gab. Often appearing on stages in darkened rooms reached by unmarked staircases, her spoken word performances have prompted the laughs and cries of many. Having grown up listening to Grime and Garage, genres that to her are the “soundtrack of London,” she was inspired by the rawness of the male lyricists. “They are incredible word smiths,” she added, noting their roles as modern poets; our century’s version of the age old legends.
